Welcome to Christchurch Summer School 2020/21
In 2010/2011 Christchurch New Zealand suffered a series of devastating earthquakes - lives were lost and turned upside down, homes crashed and were swallowed, and over 80% of CBD buildings had to be demolished.
Almost overnight, Christchurch went from being "the most English city outside of England" to "the city of earthquakes".
When deciding on the theme for the 2020/21 RSDCS NZ Branch Summer School to be held in Christchurch, the organising committee wanted to emphasise that Christchurch has risen - literally & figuratively! The city is now a vibrant, hopeful place with striking, innovative architecture around every corner, and surprising street art in our nooks and crannies. Our people have shown their resilience over and over again, and are now embracing the new energetic and creative vibe that permeates our thriving city.
Christchurch, and her people, have risen up ... just like the Phoenix of legend. And so, we have chosen a Celtic Phoenix as the symbol of our Christchurch Summer School to celebrate this city's rebirth and renewal.
We invite you to join us to celebrate this spirit 28th December 2020 - 5th January 2021, at the
New Zealand Summer School - Rise Up and Dance!

To our overseas guests - some may have minor issues sending payments to our Summer School bank account - this may be due to the "International Money Laundering" policies of the banking systems. Down at the bottom through the 'Registration & Guide' tab, we have added extra information your bank may ask for, to manage the transaction smoothly.
We're looking forward to a bit of a hoolie....won't you join us?
